NSW SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS AUSTRALIA

This small village is just north of Mittagong, approximately 100kms
South West of Sydney

I have visited the small town which had a wonderful green belt surrounding it. The native birds no longer nest in the trees, the frogs have gone, and devastation abounds. And this is only the beginning as more and more destructive equipment moves in. Streams and creeks used to flow, now they are filled with silt or are in danger of it.

The local Native Australian Waratah the symbol of this state are being destroyed for no understandable reason. They were supposed to be dug out potted and replanted after the work was complete in that area of the bush land, but after local councilors found and PHOTOGRAPHED this they mysteriously disappeared.

Masses of trees lay twisted and dead amongst the debris.... and residents wait for the thud of trees falling amongst the never ending thumping sound of rock breaking from dawn to dusk......Residents complain of smashed trees, wildlife, fences, ruined roads,loss of lifestyle and a bad sewage smell in the air. With only 2 site toilets and no open public amenities many residents wonder where the workers go, is this what is washing down the creeks and gutters, or is it indeed damage septic drainage pits?

Is this progress or annihilation?
